Position

HME Senior Superintendent, Planning and Reliability

Introduction

The principal function of the incumbent is to support the ongoing efficient and reliable operation of site HME, where complex maintenance and repair issues are expertly managed. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the HME team and Mine Operations to develop and sustain mine maintenance planning controls, programs, systems and processes that improve equipment availability, reduce unplanned downtime and optimize life cycle cost. This includes development and sustainment of CMMS master data and the establishment and ongoing use of the CMMS to provide accurate and timely schedules, fleet history, parts / components stock holding and availability, work order detail, wear analysis, failure prediction and trends.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the HME Manager, this position will be on 8 weeks on, 4 weeks off, fly in-fly out rotation, and is based at the B2Gold Fekola mine in Mali.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing/overseeing the HME planning and reliability team;
• Accountable for development and sustainment of mine maintenance planning controls, programs, systems, and processes. Includes: development of CMMS, Master Data, Maintenance Strategies, and system through operational readiness and beyond;
• Using the CMMS, establish and maintain a Work Management system to provide accurate and timely schedules, fleet history, parts/components stock holding and availability, work order detail, wear analysis, failure prediction and trends thereof;
• Develop and manage a rolling 24-month long-term planning forecast/budget for all equipment PCR/overhauls and replacements;
• Manage a rolling 12-week planning window (in line with the mine operations plan), establish weekly and four-weekly schedules highlighting key activities and milestones;
• Produce and update all mine maintenance expense and capital budgets, component life and workforce planning;
• Develop new and sustain existing maintenance systems and processes to support HME plan component management and warranty programs;
• Manage and coordinate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs, reliability strategies, maintenance strategies, maintenance programs, spare parts, critical spares, and capital replacement programs in line with corporate HME policy, procedures;
• Establish and maintain registers to ensure mobile equipment compliance with Statutory and Regulatory requirements and site policies and procedures;
• Manage a team of maintenance CM analysis/planners/schedulers (direct and indirect) to improve availability to ensure the fit for purpose equipment/systems are optimized;
• Develop training and mentoring programs for team to ensure maintenance planning and execution optimizes;
• Review and provide recommendations on HME planning and reliability procedures relating to HME to improve operational performance;
• Establish and maintain successful relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and consultants;
• Verify and validate maintenance activities;
• Track maintenance cost and make corrections to planning and scheduling as required;
• Responsible for managing/overseeing protocols and procedures for extending the useful life of existing equipment in conjunction with reliability functional team;
• Leads by example in all aspects of the vision, values and social responsibility;
• Develop and provide training to team regarding planning and reliability protocols for HME as assigned; and
• Other duties as assigned by the Company.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years in similar role.
• Direct experience in the planning and reliability management of a primary production equipment fleet of 145+ with associated support equipment of 250+.
• Advanced working background in planning and reliability, including (strategic) life cycle planning and budgeting.
• Advanced proficiency of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Systems supporting the maintenance planning and scheduling for all Mobile Equipment Assets and component subsystems tracking and forecasting.
• Direct experience in developing and implementing effective maintenance planning and forecasting for all minor and major maintenance repairs (Work Management).
• Zero based budging experience an advantage.
• Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office suite.
• Demonstrated success in coaching national employees.
• Exposure to the challenges of operating in remote sites, developing countries, and the development of national talent.
• Fluent in English, some French is a plus.
