Position

Carpenter, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Site Services Trades, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities 

• Construct, install, and maintain wooden structures, including support beams, platforms, walls, ceilings, and equipment housings to support safe and efficient site operations;
• Perform layout, formwork, and installation of concrete structures in compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards;
• Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials using hand and power tools, following blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications;
• Install metal roofing and cladding systems, ensuring proper alignment, weatherproofing, and structural stability;
• Complete interior construction tasks including drywall installation and finishing, insulation, flooring, and trim work;
• Assemble and install various structural components, ensuring work meets quality, safety, and building code requirements;
• Perform repairs, renovations, and maintenance on existing wood and mixed-material structures, diagnosing issues and recommending major repairs to the supervisor when necessary; 
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas by collecting and disposing of debris, scrap, and salvageable materials;
• Load, unload, and distribute construction materials, tools, and equipment to appropriate work areas; operate vehicles as required to support site logistics; and
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any deficiencies or supply needs, in accordance with site documentation procedures.

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

• Three(3)- Five(5) years’ experience as a Carpenter in an industrial, construction, or remote mining environment with limited access to resources; Previous experience operating spray foam equipment is an asset;
• Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate is required; High School Diploma or equivalent considered an asset:
• Experience working in surface or underground mining environment is preferred;
• Experience with small equipment such as AWP’s , skid steers, telehandlers; and
• Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $137,800.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $50 and overtime rate of $75) in a work year.
