Position

 

Electrician, Nunavut

 

 

Location and Reporting Structure

 

Reporting to the Superintendent, Site Services this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

•    The overall inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical components of the mine and camp in compliance with regulations and B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures;
•    Aid in the installation and maintenance of underground substations and pump stations as required;
•    Diagnose areas of improvement and/or repair on current electrical systems, substations, and pump stations. Inspect equipment for performance and diagnose areas of improvement and/or repair. Complete repairs as necessary;
•    Read, understand, and interpret prints;
•    Collaborate with site teams to identify operational requirements and improvements of the project;
•    Test and troubleshoot electrical, control, and automation systems;
•    Assist in the design, testing, and start-up of instrumentation and control systems;
•    Update and aid in the set-up of Electrical and Control schematics; and
•    Participate in safety toolbox talks to promote compliance with B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures. 

 

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

 

•    Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket with prior experience in industrial electrical repair and maintenance in the construction and/or mining industry;
•    Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and prints required, with preference given to those with working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in mining operations; 
•    Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices; and 
•    Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is considered an asset.
 
                                      

                                      


Compensation and Benefits


For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $151,580,00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $55 and overtime rate of $82.50) in a work year.
