Position
Engineer-in-Training, Mechanical, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Civil Engineer, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Assist in evaluating, designing, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems, machines, tools, and equipment using CAD software and engineering best practices.
• Support feasibility studies and performance analyses of mechanical components and systems, including dynamics and vibration assessments.
• Participate in the verification and certification of equipment installations to ensure compliance with design specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
• Help prepare technical documentation such as material handling packages, specifications, data sheets, and vendor evaluations.
• Contribute to troubleshooting mechanical issues, estimating maintenance costs, and ensuring alignment with project specifications and safety standards.
• Assist in developing maintenance programs, learning from experienced technical staff, and adhering to B2Gold Nunavut’s engineering procedures and standards.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• One (1) year experience in Mechanical Engineering as an EIT, with focus on heavy construction projects (preference given to those with prior experience in mining).
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc in Mechanical Engineering) or a related discipline, as determined by the company.
• Registered as a Engineer in Training (EIT) with Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG), or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microstation, CAM and Matlab/LabVIEW.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $128,154.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $46.50 and overtime rate of $69.75) in a work year.
