Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.

Position

Geotechnician, Nunavut 

Location and Reporting Structure 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Geotechnical, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities 

•    Prepare drill core for logging by rotating, cleaning, cataloging the rock samples, and measuring recovery;
•    Conduct RQD (Rock Quality Designation), magnetic susceptibility, and conductivity tests;
•    Perform channel cutting, core cutting, and shipping tasks as required;
•    Report completed work activities to the Supervisor;
•    Support geological and geophysical programs while ensuring safety and efficiency;
•    Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings to uphold and promote compliance with B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures; and
•    Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area, addressing potential risks such as tripping hazards.

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

•    Prior experience as a Geotechnician, core cutting, or related position is required. Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources considered an asset;
•    University Degree or College Diploma in Geological, Geotechnical, or other related disciplines or working towards an Undergraduate degree in Geology considered an asset;
•    High school diploma (required);
•    Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labour; and
•    WHIMS Certification and/or Level 1 First Aid considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $104,728.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $38.00 and overtime rate of $57.00) in a work year.
