Indigenous and Northern Affairs Summer Student, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Supervisor, I&NA, this temporary position will be based in Kugluktuk or Cambridge Bay until August 2026.
Responsibilities
• Serve as a primary point of contact in one of B2Gold Nunavut’s Kitikmeot offices, located in either Cambridge Bay or Kugluktuk, assisting with community engagement and administrative tasks.
• Travel to Back River Project sites, Kitikmeot communities, and other locations across Canada to participate in meetings with project partners, as well as community events, cultural gatherings, and industry-related activities.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing the annual B2Gold Nunavut Kitikmeot Community Tour, including logistical coordination, communication with community representatives, and event facilitation.
• Provide support for other community-based initiatives, such as open houses, career fairs, cultural celebrations, and stakeholder engagement sessions.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of cultural awareness training and programming at Back River Project sites, ensuring content reflects Inuit knowledge, traditions, and perspectives.
• Assist with documentation, reporting, and communication efforts related to community engagement, ensuring transparency and effective information sharing.
• Support the Indigenous & Northern Affairs team in strengthening relationships with Kitikmeot communities, project partners, and other key stakeholders.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in Indigenous Studies, Nunavut Sivuniksavut or a related field.
• Enrolment under the Nunavut Agreement is required; Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Inuktitut and/or Inuinnaqtun.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time during the term of this position.
