Position

 

Mill Operations Trainer, Nunavut 

 

 

Location and Reporting Structure 

 

Reporting to the Manager, Mill this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

•    Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for mill operations, covering crushing, grinding, leaching, and tailings management;
•    Develop and maintain training materials, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on modules tailored to operational requirements;
•    Conduct classroom, practical, and on-the-job training sessions to address skill gaps and ensure operational excellence;
•    Evaluate trainee performance through assessments, feedback, and observation to ensure competency in key operational tasks;
•    Collaborate with supervisors to validate operator skill levels and identify additional training areas;
•    Maintain accurate records of training and competency evaluations for all personnel;
•    Collaborate with supervisors to validate operator skill levels and identify areas requiring additional training; and
•    Write SOPs as needed. Identify and organize any outside vendor training needed.

 

 


Desired Competencies and Requirements 

 

•    Five (5) years of experience in mill operations, with a strong focus on training or mentorship roles;
•    Degree or diploma in mineral processing, adult education, or equivalent industry experience;
•    In-depth knowledge of gold or mineral processing operations, including crushing, grinding, leaching, refinery, and tailings management; and
•    Proficiency with training development tools and techniques, including competency-based assessments; and
•    Strong knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulatory compliance.


                                      

                                      
Compensation and Benefits


For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $132,288.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $48 and overtime rate of $72) in a work year.
