Position
Mine Beat Geologist, UG, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Sr. Mine Geologist, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Log and validate underground infill diamond drill core in accordance with industry standards, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
• Coordinate daily drilling activities, including data entry (e.g. surveys, planned holes, timecards, safety documentation) and monitor performance, deviations, delays, and costs.
• Collaborate with drilling supervisors to conduct underground drill inspections and support drill planning, including the identification of infill target.
• Support geological functions such as mapping, chip sampling, interpretation, and production tracking across underground and open pit operations.
• Maintain the core shack and oversee core handling, sampling, and organization to support efficient workflow.
• Ensure effective cross-functional communication and strict adherence to B2Gold Nunavut safety standards and site-specific protocols.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Three (3) years of relevant core logging experience, preferably in high-grade, orogenic gold, or banded iron formation deposits; Arctic mining experience is considered an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
• Eligibility to register as a Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) with the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG); experience with geological software (e.g., Datamine, Deswik, Computer-Aided Design (CAD)) is considered an asset.
• Strong technical skills in core logging, geological interpretation, and data management, with the ability to accurately integrate geological data into operational planning.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $150,000.00
