Position
Mine Trades Planner, UG, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Superintendent, Electrician, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Deliver electrical and fixed-equipment maintenance planning and reliability support across UG mining operations, including developing short- and long-term maintenance strategies to enhance reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Support maintenance supervision through day-to-day planning, scheduling, prioritization, and coordination with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure alignment with operational needs and shutdown schedules.
• Build, maintain, and optimize detailed job plans—scope, labor, materials, tooling, and safety requirements while ensuring maintenance history, lessons learned, and technical documentation are accurately captured and shared.
• Lead failure review and troubleshooting efforts by analyzing root causes, identifying recurring issues, recommending corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability.
• Champion safety and environmental compliance by developing and reviewing safe work procedures, ensuring adherence to regulatory and site standards, and integrating hazard identification and risk controls into all planned work.
• Maintain accurate planning data within the CMMS (SAP), including material masters, critical spares, task lists, and work orders; support annual consumables planning for Sea Lift; and assist with commissioning, start-ups, major maintenance, and other assigned duties.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Five (5) years’ experience in maintenance planner, scheduler, or coordinator roles in a UG mining environment. Working in remote Arctic environments with limited resources, including the ability to forecast a full year in advance to identify and procure all materials required for annual Sea Lift operations is highly preferred.
• Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Millwright Interprovincial Red Seal or Nunavut Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) is required.
• Significant experience working on CMMS system. SAP Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Extensive experience using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) platforms, including SAP, complemented by strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $162,000.00
