Position
Refiner, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Plant Metallurgist, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate and timely production records, including log sheets, electronic data entries, and documentation of lot and pour numbers, refinery reports, and final metal weights to ensure traceability and compliance.
• Operate and maintain electrowinning systems and the gravity-concentrating table, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to metallurgical standards.
• Execute gold pours with precision, including the preparation and mixing of reagents and flux, and prepare gold product for shipment in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on refining equipment, including bullion furnace crucible rebuilds, inspections, and upkeep, as well as cleaning gold sludge from cathodes.
• Conduct daily inspections of systems, equipment, and work areas to identify and mitigate safety hazards, verify equipment integrity, and uphold housekeeping standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to refining processes and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while strictly adhering to all gold room security protocols and performing additional duties as assigned.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in mill operations, with a focus on metal recovery and processing with experience
working in a gold room or comparable mineral processing environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes and applied chemistry relevant to refining operations.
• Eligible to be bondable is a requirement of this position.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $135,044.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $49.00 and overtime rate of $73.50) in a work year.
