Sr. Mine Geologist, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
eporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Conduct detailed geological mapping of the mine areas to identify and classify rock types, structures, and mineralization zones.
• Develop, update, and maintain geological models to estimate ore reserves in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
• Responsible for ore and waste control activities for multiple open pit and underground mines.
• Analyze geological data, drill core samples, and assay results to provide accurate information for mine planning and resource evaluation.
• Perform and maintain grade control programs to optimize ore extraction, minimize waste, and ensure optimum material is delivered to the processing plant.
• Manage employees and contractors to ensure compliance with B2Gold's mine standard operating procedures (SOP'S) and WSCC safety guidelines and procedures.
• Work with and lead open pit and underground geologists and grade control samplers.
• Plan and supervise underground drilling, RC drilling, Blasthole Sampling and ABA sample campaigns.
• Assist with preparation of monthly reconciliation and reserves/resource reporting.
• Oversee structural mapping activities for open pit mines, including development of 3D geological interpretations.
• Liaise with exploration team to ensure proper application of geological models and optimization of resources as the project transitions from development to production through start-up.
• Develop and implement appropriate systems, procedures and policies.
• Maintain and manage on site QA/QC programs and databases for all geological systems and deliverables.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Eight (8) years' relevant experience in surface and underground mining, with predominant focus on gold and high arctic environment.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology or related required (P. Geo designation considered an asset).
• Expertise in Datamine software for geological modeling and resource estimation.
• Proven track record in open pit and underground grade control.
• Strong background in QAQC practices.
• Experience with resource management and reporting under NI 43-101, and reporting for a public Canadian mining company.
• Previous experience working with Indigenous groups in a professional capacity.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $162,500.00
