Supervisor, Health & Safety - Capital Project

Position

Supervisor, Health & Safety – Capital Project, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, Back River, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support daily health and safety activities related to capital projects by ensuring compliance with federal and territorial regulations, as well as B2Gold Nunavut standards;

• Drive continuous improvement by implementing, monitoring, and enhancing health and safety programs and procedures to maintain a safe work environment and support project success;

• Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits to ensure safe working conditions;

• Lead incident investigations and support root cause analysis;

• Supervise the development and update of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs);

• Enforce health and safety policies, including WSCC Mine Regulations and CSA Standards, by conducting site inspections, safety meetings, and operational standards;

• Create and implement project-specific safety plans, procedures, and emergency response strategies; and

• Promote a proactive safety culture through strong visible leadership.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Five (5) years’ experience in industrial or mining health & safety, with a minimum of two (2) years in a Team Lead capacity;

• Post Secondary Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety;

• Certifications in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., CRSP, CRST, CHSC) designation or equivalent. Completion of WSCC Supervisor Level II; and

• Strong understanding of Canadian mining regulations and safety legislation.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $153,700.00.
