Position

 

Supervisor, Underground Production, Nunavut 

 

 

Location and Reporting Structure 

 

Reporting to the Underground Mine Captain this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

•    Lead team of underground mining professionals, including long hole drillers, cable bolters, blasters, mucking and haulage operators, backfilling operators, and construction crews;
•    Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies;
•    Support, mentor, and coach underground workers;
•    Identify and mitigate potential hazards to safety and production, employ strategies to reduce impacts;
•    Attend weekly planning meetings and ensure operational forecasts are achievable;
•    Lead daily and weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks; 
•    Collaborate with Maintenance to ensure production targets are met;
•    Conduct regular inspections of work areas, equipment, and ground conditions;
•    Maintain accurate shift reports, operational logs and monitor and report on production metrics; and
•    Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

 

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

 

•    Minimum of five (5) years of underground mining experience with demonstrated leadership competencies and the proven ability to motivate and the drive to develop a high performing crew;
•    Experience in underground mine survey, ventilation, and dewatering is beneficial including a solid understanding of underground mining methods, equipment, ground control practices, and mining KPIs; Supervisor level experience with long hole drilling, cable bolting, and tele-remote mucking is preferred;
•    Valid WSCC Underground Shift boss or Underground Supervisor Level II and valid First Aid certification; and
•    Proficient computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office, operational reporting software, and SAP.

 


                                      

                                      

Compensation and Benefits


For informational purposes, the annual salary for the role is $195,000.00
