Construction Miner I, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, Underground, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and direction to the underground construction crew by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing guidance to ensure safe and efficient execution of underground construction activities.
• Safe and efficient operation of underground mining equipment including, but not limited to boom truck, scissor lift, shotcrete sprayer, transmixer, scooptram (6yd, 8yd and 10yd), telehandler, and underground light vehicles (LVs) in accordance with site standard operating procedures.
• Complete thorough pre/post-operational inspections of equipment, reporting deficiencies, and/or damages to the Shift Supervisor.
• Perform most aspects of underground construction mining including, but not limited to:
Construct walls and bulkheads Shotcrete application
Concrete forming and pouring Backfill prep
Infrastructure and mine services installations General construction tasks
Recognizing ground conditions and following protocol when poor ground conditions are encountered Accurate and timely reporting of shift details to the Shift Supervisor
• Read & follow construction prints and provide feedback or input to construction planning process; and
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in the underground mind to support safety and efficiency.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Seven (7) years of construction mining experience with a demonstrated proficiency in relevant tasks;
• Trades certification favourable (Welding, Carpentry, etc.);
• Valid First Aid certificate and blasting ticket in a Canadian jurisdiction; and
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $172,250.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $62.50 and overtime rate of $93.75) in a work year.
