Position

 

Underground Construction Miner III, Nunavut 

 

 

Location and Reporting Structure 

 

Reporting to Shift Supervisor, Underground, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

•    Read and follow construction prints;
•    Safe and efficient operation of underground mining equipment including, but not limited to boom truck, scissor lift, transmixer, telehandler, and underground LV in accordance with site standard operating procedures;
•    Carry out various underground construction activities, including building walls, bulkheads, escapeways, and general construction duties, ensuring infrastructure is sound and up to safety standards;
•    Handle concrete forming, pouring, and shotcrete application for reinforcing structures, backfill preparation, and supporting underground operations;
•    Install and maintain mine services such as tele-remote access points, as well as other infrastructure critical to safe and efficient mining operations;
•    Monitor and assess ground conditions, following proper safety protocols in poor conditions, and report shift details accurately and promptly to the Shift Supervisor;
•    Complete thorough pre/post-operational inspections of equipment, reporting deficiencies or damage to the Shift Supervisor; and
•    Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the underground mine.
 
 

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

 

•    Three (3) years of construction mining experience with demonstrated proficiency in relevant tasks; 
•    Trades certification is an asset (Welding, Carpentry, etc.);
•    Valid First Aid certificate is required; and
•    Strong safety mindset, excellent communication skills, and ability to follow instructions from supervisors.


                                      

                                      

Compensation and Benefits


For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $133,666.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $48.50 and overtime rate of $72.75) in a work year.
