Position

 

Underground Production Long Hole Driller, Nunavut 

 

 

Location and Reporting Structure 


 Reporting to the Underground Production Supervisor, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

•    Operate long hole drill efficiently and accurately to drill production blast holes, slot raises, drop raises, service holes, etc. Ensure long hole drill is cleaned thoroughly after each use and consistently maintained in operational condition;
•    Complete thorough pre/post-operational inspections of equipment, reporting deficiencies or damage to the Supervisor;
•    Read, understand, and follow engineering prints and layouts;
•    Perform or assist with many other aspects of underground production mining including, but not limited to:
    Pre and post blast inspections        Stope loading, timing, and blasting according to design
    Blast hole cleaning        Mine services installations
    Production mucking and haulage        Cable Bolter operation experience beneficial
    Recognizing ground conditions and following protocol when poor ground conditions are encountered        Accurate and timely reporting of shift details to the Supervisor
•    Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the underground mine; and
•    Take direction from Underground Supervisors and collaborate with the supporting teams in a respectful manner.

 


Desired Competencies and Requirements 

 

•    Five (5) years of underground production mining experience with a demonstrated high level of proficiency in relevant tasks;
•    Demonstrated portfolio of competency with long hole drills; experience with Sandvik drills is highly desirable;
•    Valid First Aid certificate; and
•    An approval letter from the Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) is considered an asset.

 

 


                                      

Compensation and Benefits


For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $163,982.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $59.50 and overtime rate of $89.25) in a work year.
