Position

Waste Oil Heater Technician

Location and Reporting Structure 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations (MLA), this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities 

•Install, commission, and test waste oil heaters and associated systems;
•Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair waste oil heaters and associated systems (e.g., fuel lines, pumps, combustion chambers, heat exchangers);
•Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime;
•Monitor system performance and efficiency; make necessary adjustments to optimize fuel usage;
•Safely collect, filter, and handle waste oil in accordance with environmental regulations; 
•Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies specific to heating systems; 
•Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, repairs, and oil usage; 
•Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling and disposal of oil and waste product; and
•Coordinate with the maintenance team and report critical issues to supervisors.

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

•Three (3) years’ experience working with waste oil heaters, with preference given to those with arctic experience in a remote site with limited resources;
•Journeyperson certification in a related trade (e.g., Millwright, HVAC, or Oil Burner Technician) preferred; and
•Certification in leak testing and gas detection or equivalent.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $153,647.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $55.75 and overtime rate of $83.63 in a work year.
