B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Canada, Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries.

Position

Engineering Intern (Fixed Term)

Introduction

The Engineering Intern works with and is mentored by experienced engineers on a variety of our global mining projects.  The work term is based out of our downtown Vancouver office, with expected travel to our active mine sites.  Through the work term, the intern will work on variety of projects with working teams in our engineering, exploration, finance and other departments. Assigned tasks and project work will consider experience, candidate career development and the business needs of the Company. 

Location

This is a full-time, temporary position based at B2Gold’s Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada. The role follows our hybrid work model of four days in-office and one day remote each week.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with our operations engineering group with corporate and site-specific projects, including: tracking of site performance and operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and internship project evaluation and financial analysis
• Contribute to 43-101 standard studies and technical report writing;
• Contribute to design projects for open pit phasing, underground development, waste dumps, as business needs arise;
• Assist with life-of-mine or budget level planning, as required;
• Project coordination, including interacting with corporate and site employees and contractors;
• Participate in site visits and other business-related travel (Site-Specific duties will be developed with site teams depending on their needs and nature of work. This may include field work such as surveying, geotechnical inspection, time studies, etc.); and,

• Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Requirements: 

• Enrolled in a University degree in relevant Engineering field such as mining, geological, or civil; must be a 2nd year or above student;
• Strong academic background in engineering principles, with preference for a focus and interest in underground and/or open pit mining operations;
• Exposure to computer software and applications, including mining-specific programs (Deswik, MineSite, Datamine, Surpac, Vulcan, etc.); The B2Gold Corporate team uses Deswik.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Able to work collaboratively in a team environment but also available to work independently with minimum supervision.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working with and/or managing consultants and teams directly and remotely is an asset;
• Experience with challenging jurisdictions a strong asset.

Job Demands/Physical Requirements:

• This position will be based at B2Gold’s corporate office in Vancouver, Canada, with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days on site + 1 day working from home).
• Travel to B2Gold’s operations may be required throughout the internship

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set. The hourly range for this position is CAD $25.00 – 35.00 per hour, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
