Position

Heavy Mining Equipment (“HME”) Planning and Engineering Specialist

 

Introduction

The Heavy Mining Equipment (“HME”) Planning and Engineering Specialist is responsible for progressing the corporate business plan to achieve the primary objective of supporting current and future mining operations to achieve best practice safety, performance and cost. This position reports directly to the Director, HME. This role requires a dynamic, energetic professional looking to progress their skills, capability and grow their career with an exciting senior gold producer.

 

Location

This is a full-time position based at B2Gold’s Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada. The role follows our hybrid work model of four days in-office and one day remote each week.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with site-based teams and HME Director to analyze data, develop detailed life of mine (LOM) fleet strategies;
  • Develop, implement group wide business plan (BP), LOM asset strategy workflow process, procedure, models, reporting templates and platform;
  • Manage documentation database, review and identify functionality improvement opportunities;
  • Support development, implementation of HME management system standards and procedures;
  • Identify, analyze, justify technology-innovation projects with OEM’s and suppliers;
  • Support project implementation; and,
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, finance, economics or information systems;
  • Expert user in Microsoft products excel, Word, Project, Power BI, database management;
  • Results focused, committed to achieving department goals;
  • Professional approach to working with diverse range of cultures;
  • Strong analytical skills, interpret data to identify business improvement opportunities;
  • Excellent communication and change management skills.

 

Additional Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience in the principles and application of asset life cycle management in an industrial environment;
  • Experience, understanding of company cost structures, budget development, building financial business case (NPV, IRR) financial analysis & reporting;
  • Exposure to ERP/CMMS software packages;
  • Additional education: asset-maintenance management, project or business management;
  • Software: Database development experience, reporting platform development particularly Power BI;
  • Language skills:
    • English: high level speaking and written proficiency
    • French: desirable but not essential
    • Spanish: desirable but not essential

 

Job Demands/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be based at B2Gold’s corporate office in Vancouver, Canada, with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days on site + 1 day working from home) with frequent domestic and international travel required which may be in short notice (30-40%)
  • Flexible work hours required to communicate with mining project time-zones, work mine sites hours when onsite.

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set, and a comprehensive benefit package for employees and their eligible dependents. The base salary range for this position is CAD $150,000 – 175,000 per annum, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
