Position
Mine Engineer, Site Support
Introduction
Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, this position will be responsible for mine production support, mine planning, mine design, and project management activities in support of corporate and mine site goals and directives. The position will require frequent interaction with mine site management, engineering and operations groups. Work will also require interfacing with corporate engineering, exploration, and finance departments.
The successful candidate will be a responsible and self-directed professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Frequent travel to domestic and international mine sites will be required.
Location
This position is based out of our Vancouver head office with frequent domestic or international travel required. Travel may be on short notice and for extended stays (potentially more than 40% annually).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with mine site staff to optimize underground and open pit mine production and cost performance;
- Maintain effective and regular communication with site mining, technical services, and other personnel regarding production, planning and design activities;
- Continually evaluate and report site operational performance and outlook versus established targets. Monitor and report production performance metrics and indicators;
- Evaluate and support open pit and underground mine design and planning, including site layout, mine ventilation, drainage control, power and dewatering systems, etc;
- Ensure that open pit and underground mine plans and operations comply with B2Gold and industry standard safety parameters;
- Support annual and Life of Mine capital and operations budgeting and cost modelling;
- Travel to current and future operations and projects of B2Gold as required;
- Support site environmental and regulatory permitting staff and consultants as required; and,
- Perform other duties as required in support of corporate and site objectives.
Requirements:
- University degree in Mining, Geological, or Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university;
- Minimum three years of experience in the mining industry, with site experience preferred; Underground experience preferred;
- Experienced in production planning, budget preparation, economic evaluation, and open pit and underground mine design;
- Experience working with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project) and at least one mine design/planning system (Deswik, MineSite, Datamine, Surpac, Vulcan, etc.). Deswik experience is preferred;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment but also available to work independently with minimal supervision; and,
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in challenging jurisdictions; and,
- Language skills:
- English: high level speaking and written proficiency
- French or Spanish: desirable but not essential

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set, and a comprehensive benefit package for employees and their eligible dependents. The base salary range for this position is CAD $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
