Position
Senior Payroll Administrator

Introduction
Reporting to the Manager, Domestic and Expatriate Payrolls, the Senior Payroll Administrator position will be responsible for semi-monthly Canadian payroll, ensuring the accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding, and company deductions, preparing GL account reconciliations, supporting to prepare reports, records and other correspondence related to payroll matters. This position must ensure payroll calculations and actions are in accordance with Canadian legislation and companies’ policies and procedures. This position will also have an opportunity to learn expatriate payrolls including the U.S., Mali, Namibia, Ivory Cost, France and Finland. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with sound understanding on payroll related legislations that is efficient and highly effective working independently and within a team environment.

Location
This is a full-time position based at B2Gold Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada with a flexible work arrangement option available.

Duties and Responsibilities
  •  Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefits, equities and special payments such as bonuses, severance, directors’ fees and vacation pay;
  • Extract timesheets and review work hours for completeness and accuracy ensuring that hours are categorized and allocated to correct cost centers;
  • Make ADP entries for new hires, terminations and adjustments ensuring all wage changes are made accurately;
  • Prepare semi-monthly journal entries, reconcile payroll and benefits related to general ledge accounts;
  • Process ROE, balance EHT, WCB for each pay period;
  • Maintain and update employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements, in Canadian and other currencies, using manual or computerized systems;
  • Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions;
  • Administer the Company’s group RRSP plan;
  • Complete, verify and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans and medical insurance;
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, pension, Records of Employment and other statements;
  • Compile, review, and monitor statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts;
  • Respond to payroll related employee enquiries and communications;
  • Reconciliation of payroll-related accounts including but not limited to benefits reconciliation, stock options and year-end reconciliations;
  • Ad hoc projects as required;
  • May be responsible for the development or implementation of payroll policies, procedures or processes; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Requirements:
  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, or similar from a reputable post-secondary program;
  • PCP Designation from the National Payroll Institute (formerly Canadian Payroll Association);
  • Minimum five years of practical Canadian payroll experience;
  • ADP experience is a must in processing multi-province payroll with 100+ employees;
  • Good understanding of Canadian/BC payroll legislation and regulatory framework;
  • Advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel skills including the ability to generate detailed reports;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with customer service focused;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Able to work independently under minimum supervision;
  • Able to prioritize, adapt, and manage multiple priorities while adhering to strict deadlines; and
  • Ability to understand/maintain confidentiality, strong work ethics, with a team-player mindset are imperative attributes.

Additional Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with cross-border US payroll considered a strong asset;
  • Prior experience in mining industry considered an asset.

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set, and a comprehensive benefit package for employees and their eligible dependents. The base salary range for this position is CAD $70,000 – 85,000 per annum, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
