Position
Senior Specialist, Internal Corporate Communications
Introduction
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, the Senior Specialist, Internal Corporate Communications will support internal communications, culture, and employee engagement initiatives across B2Gold. This position fosters employee engagement by crafting compelling narratives that align with the company's vision and values and position the organization as a trusted and influential brand. This role plays a crucial part in driving strategic initiatives, building strong inter-departmental relationships, and ensuring the Company's voice is heard and understood across all platforms. The team is comprised of the SVP, Legal and Corporate Communications, the Director, Corporate Communications and the Corporate Communications & Events Specialist. This position also works closely with site-based Communications team members at our office and mine locations in Mali, Namibia, the Philippines, and Nunavut in Canada, and also other project locations. In addition, the successful candidate will build strong working relationships with Corporate departments such as Human Resources, Investor Relations, Safety, Sustainability, Exploration, and other departments and Executives as required, to help communicate initiatives and developments across the organization. Occasional travel to B2Gold locations or conference events may also be required.
Location
This is a full-time position based at B2Gold’s Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada. The role follows our hybrid work model of four days in-office and one day remote each week.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Corporate Internal Communications
- Create and execute innovative internal communications plans and programs centred around fostering a unified workplace culture and enhancing employees’ access to information;
- Oversee the development and delivery of strategic content for internal communications channels including the intranet (B2Connect), quarterly town hall presentations, all-staff emails, posters and more;
- Improve the use of existing channels for internal communications in Vancouver (B2Gold Intranet, TV screens, Posters), by creating engaging strategies to drive participation and engagement with employees;
- Support strategic internal campaigns designed to engage employees, e.g., Executive updates, Mental Health, International Women’s Day, Safety, EDI initiatives, Health & Wellness, Employee Recognition;
- Provide editorial support for content required for corporate publications such as the Responsible Mining Report, Climate Change Report;
- Drive continual improvement of internal communications processes, procedures and programs, e.g., working with HR to improve new hire experience and orientation, employee performance and recognition cycles, policy updates, help with the development of confidential HR communications and sensitive correspondence to internal stakeholders;
- Work with key internal stakeholders to design and implement change management strategies;
- Participate in the planning, implementation and management of business initiatives on various inter-departmental teams;
- Manage creative agencies for communication design and production (incl. graphic design and film production etc.) as required.
Site-Based Internal Communications
- Strengthen relationships with site-based Communications team members and encourage a regular exchange of updates and content to amplify initiatives taking place at site level;
- Work with operations to standardize branding and collaborate with site-based communications colleagues responsible for major stakeholder events to ensure standardization and quality control of corporate identity and messages;
- Explore ways to improve internal communications, ensuring a strong narrative and alignment with key issues: (i) Prepare stories with clear, prompt communication on relevant issues; (ii) Offer context around internal communications materials to make information relatable to employees; (iii) Collaborate with content owners across the organization, giving guidance on proper brand use, voice and writing style and reviewing materials for consistency before publishing.
External Communications
- Support corporate initiatives and projects during periods of high demand, as directed by the Director, Corporate Communications, e.g., producing content for or supporting the production of corporate publications, presentations, videos, digital media and websites, social media, or any other externally facing communication channels.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field, such as Communications, Journalism, or English;
- At least 10+ years of progressive internal communications work experience gained in a corporate environment for a globally diversified company, ideally in natural resources or an organization with a large field-based workforce;
- Excellent English writing skills (vocabulary, spelling, mechanics), with a comprehensive working knowledge of Canadian Press (CP) style;
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- Professional communication skills, including the ability to work with internal stakeholders at all levels;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Ability work effectively independently and in a dynamic work environment.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with mining companies that operate in challenging jurisdictions considered as strong assets; and,
- French, Spanish or Filipino language skills are considered an asset;
Job Demands/Physical Requirements:
- This position will be based at B2Gold’s corporate office in Vancouver, Canada, with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days on site + 1 day working from home).
- This position is based out of our Vancouver head office with occasional domestic and international travels required which may be in short notice (10%).

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set, and a comprehensive benefit package for employees and their eligible dependents. The base salary range for this position is CAD $100,000 – 120,000 per annum, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
